Ok, I am back. I will start being vigalent about posting. Today I am fixing a Cauliflower Au Gratin with pork chops. I found some marked down cauliflower at King Soopers and knew exactly what I would do with it. I do not normally buy produce unless I get a really great deal. Well, they had two already cut packaged bags for $1.29 ea. Here's the recipe:
Preheat ovent to 350
1 head of cauliflower or 2 packages pre washed
Basic bechamel sauce (1 tbs butter, 1 tbs flour, 1 cup milk) I used 3 of each
2-3 cups Cheese (pretty much anything you like)
Salt, pepper and any other spices that you like (I always use garlic--powder form)
Bread crumbs
Parmesean cheese
Cook cauliflower in water about 2-3 minutes and shock
Start bechamel sauce by melting butter and then adding flour. Cook for at least 1 minute before adding milk. When you add milk bring to a boil slowly and add salt, pepper and other spices (alot of recipes call for nutmeg also--I am partial to garlic). When it begans to thicken, add cheese and cook until melted. You can also add sour cream if you like. You will have to adjust the amount of milk as the cheese and sour cream will over thicken the sauce.
Put cauliflower in casserole dish and pour sauce over it.
Mix crumbs and parmesean cheese together and put on top.
Cook 30-45 minutes
And there you have it! Yummmmm!
